Three Levels of Care in Assisted Living Homes

When it comes to the care for you or your loved one in assisted living homes, there are three different levels of care offered to consider.

When it comes to the care for you or your loved one in assisted living homes, like at Modern Care Homes, there are three different levels of care offered to consider in your search.

Level One: Supervisory Care

Some who are looking to live in an assisted living home won’t need as much help as those suffering from debilitating conditions like Multiple Sclerosis. Level one residents typically only need small daily reminders, called “activities of daily living (ADLs),” such as help with managing medication, and can live more independently than other levels. More services for level one residents would be reminders to bathe, help with laundry, and general overall hygiene practices. Maintaining as much independence as possible while living in an assisted living home is important for Level One residents, but gentle nudges here and there for ADLs are necessary.

Level Two: Personal Care

This is a more moderate care level, with some independence for the residents. Personal Care is for people who have difficulty bathing themselves, need help in managing medication, and getting dressed. These patients and residents don’t need constant nursing care, but still need support for ADLs. It’s more nurturing and provides more support than Supervisory Care, while at the same time gives people some level of independence. Residents receiving Personal Care have the ability and mobility to manage most aspects of their daily lives.

Level Three: Directed Care

Level Three is for those who need nursing help and struggle with ADLs and require nurses or caregivers on a day-to-day basis. Residents and patients os assisted living homes needing Directed Care require much more significant help, such as with physical and behavioral therapies, monitored medication management, and mobility. It’s also the level of care that patients with memory issues, such as dementia and Alzheimer’s, require for their own safety. These patients can’t manage on their own, and often require more than just one caregiver or nurse.

At Modern Care Homes, we have options to fit each patient or resident that lives in our homes. From Supervisory Care to Directed Care, we have vetted and professional staff to take care of all the needs you or your loved on will need.
